Company leadership worked with local officials to identify potential locations for the Company’s silk production operations.  Properties identified include a Greenfield site and existing facilities that should meet both short term and long term requirements for space and production.  The Company is now working with Vietnamese officials to pursue approvals for investment and for the introduction of our hybrid silkworm.

(OTCQB: KBLB) (“Company”), the leading developer of spider silk based fibers, today announced it has completed the planting of the first 2,000 mulberry trees at its Texas location.  This facility and these trees will be used to supply the Company’s US recombinant spider silk operations with fresh mulberry leaves.  The Company expects to begin harvesting these leaves in the 3^rd or 4^th quarter of this year. 

“We’ve invested a tremendous amount of effort over the last thirty days preparing the new Texas facility and planting these first 2,000 trees,” said COO Jon Rice.  “Those long days and a handful of fire ant bites have rewarded us, with what we expect, will be the capacity to support all of our US silk production without the need of expensive artificial diet.  We’re looking forward to our first harvest this fall.”

The Company is now in the process of assessing its needs for additional mulberry trees and will make a decision regarding additional plantings later this year.

Kraig Labs signs long term lease and prepares to plant 2,000 mulberry trees

ANN ARBOR, Mich., -January 24, 2017- Kraig Biocraft Laboratories, Inc. (OTCQB: KBLB) (“Company”), the leading developer of spider silk based fibers, today announced it had secured a long term property lease in Texas for the Company’s domestic mulberry production. Over the next 60 days the Company will complete the first phase of expansion by preparing the land and planting 2,000 mulberry trees. These trees will provide the Company with the continuous supply of fresh mulberry leaves needed to produce its record setting Dragon Silk^TM. The Company expects to see an improvement in materials performance and a reduction in production costs by as much as 30% through the use of locally sourced mulberry.

Kraig Labs begins Spider Silk production with first batch totaling more than 40,000 silkworms

(“Company”), the leading developer of spider silk based fibers, today announced that the Company has successfully launched production at its new Indiana production facility with the hatching of more than 40,000 silkworms.  With this beginning, the Company is on schedule to produce all of the recombinant spider silk necessary to fulfill its contract with the US Government on time and on budget.  The Company has a large inventory of silkworm eggs ready to hatch and, over the coming weeks, plans to ramp up the hatch rate.  The Company expects the need to hire and train additional staff to keep up with the expanding production volumes.
